The time has come to release new music! I’m super excited for this one. My new single I S L A N D S is officially available everywhere you listen!

It’s been an incredible journey making “Islands” (and the rest of the music that is coming)! I first demoed the song 7 years ago, just after my last album Leopardwood was released (2013). I was pregnant at the time and set up a little studio in our newly rented house. We had been traveling Australia by boat, so as you can imagine, my writing was very inspired by water.
Producer/engineer/drummer Mike Ardagh took the recordings to the next level (and beyond!) in Toronto. We did some of the recording via virtual Pro Tools sessions. The sound of this music is more electronic and orchestral than my previous recordings, with layers of samples and synthesizers.
“Islands” was written in response to feeling ready to have a home and solid ground beneath my feet after 2 years on a boat. It’s also about digging deep in times of transition and leaning on your own sense of ‘home’ when it all feels uncertain.
This music is uplifting so I hope it can bring strength and good vibes to whatever you are currently facing in these interesting times.
