I’m grateful for my FEET.

They aren’t perfect. Really, not perfect. But when I’m struggling in any way and I don’t know what to do I start with my feet.

‘I’m grateful for my feet.’

Because if I think of the miles they’ve walked, the places they’ve explored, the Machu Picchu, the beaches, the forest runs, the dance recitals, the wedding aisle, how they’ve held me up through laughter, in all the decisions and indecision, the checkout queues and ‘places’ in my heart where I’ve stood. It’s easy to feel gratitude then.

”Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.’ -From The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.

So many wise people from Albert Einstein to Eckhart Tolle say that gratitude is a pathway for creating positive energy, feelings and outcomes in life. But how do we get from being in a funk to being grateful? I don’t know about you, but I have found it difficult when things feel ‘hard’ to say ‘hey, I’ll just be grateful and it will all be ok.’ That’s why starting with the feet has worked for me. Immediately I become aware of my body and find gratitude in the moment.

Let me also just acknowledge that this is a first world problem. If the nourishing food, fresh air, freedom and safety isn’t enough to be grateful for in whatever crazy moment you find yourself in, just decide to begin at the bottom and work up. Start by being grateful for your feet and all the ways they’ve stood, ran and danced for you.
