AUSTRALIAN MUSIC MONTH
November is Ausmusic Month! And, I have been compiling a playlist of some tunes that I currently love.
I was born in Canada and have been living in Australia for 8 years. There is lots to learn, but the artists and bands that I have discovered inspire me. Like many of the Australian people, the music has a friendly blend of grit and sass.
Of course there is a very relevant Ausmusic history, but that’s for a different blog post! Here are just a few iconic modern artists that are known worldwide: Olivia Newton-John, AC/DC, Kylie Minogue, Xavier Rudd and the famous children’s band The Wiggles.
I’ve heard people refer to the Australian climate as an ‘Endless Summer’… there is definitely a pre-conceived notion that Australia is always hot and sun-drenched. While that is certainly true in some regions of AUS, the more southern parts of the country experience a winter as cold as it is in Vancouver! But nonetheless, the music mostly feels like it’s sunshine-infused. Music is spinning all the time in my home, with the kids, in the car, in the kitchen while I’m cooking and I love Australian music because the vibe is uplifting.
In my ears often are Emma Louise, Matt Corby, Sia, Client Liaison & Angus and Julia Stone.
